Campaign Financing: Success and Controversy

As of Tuesday, three St. Albans teachers have officially become candidates: John Campbell, Edward Eagles, and Sherry Rusher.  Campaign finances appears to be a key concern in the race, and while some candidates are finding monetary success, others are facing accusations of fraud. Rusher initially had a large financial lead with $36,000, and her eighteen donors include both current students and St. Albans alumni.  However, Eagles gained a lot of ground late Tuesday with a questionable bundle of $25,000 that is now being investigated by the FEC and the media.  An update and a full report on this issue will follow tomorrow.  No reports have been filed yet regarding the campaign finances of Campbell.

The reporters would like to remind the St. Albans community that a town-hall meeting will take place after lunch tomorrow.  This is a chance for voters to ask their candidates questions about the important issues.
